Learning to Lean

“When I run, I feel God’s pleasure.” Eric Liddell, the Olympian / “Flying Scotsman” turned missionary declared that decades ago. I can relate. Can you?

What gives you pleasure in life? I love the combination of fitness and faith.

Recently in Michigan our winter weather has been pretty wild. My kids had 3 snow days in a row and those really weren’t even because of inches of snow. It was the ice, the fog, the winds, the flooding, then back to some snow on the ice, more rain, which froze to ice, which melted, which caused flooding… Forgive the run-on sentence, but this winter weather has felt like one crazy run-on.

Back to the faith and fitness. It’s been a little hectic to get the running in, but I’m learning to lean on the Lord. Sometimes we can’t do what we want to do training wise, but if we can do a little something, it’s still worth it.

Then there’s the faith aspect of life. There’s nothing like a potent dose of God’s Word to light my path and yours on a daily basis.

Today, I hope we can both make the time to sow seeds into our fitness and faith. Our bodies, souls, minds and spirits are more intertwined than we will ever realize.

O my soul, bless God.

From head to toe, I’ll bless his holy name! O my soul, bless God, don’t forget a single blessing!

– Psalm 103:1,2
