Visualize Your Finish Line

Lately I’ve been thinking a lot about the finish line, particularly the finish line at the Detroit Free Press Talmer Bank Marathon on Sunday, October 20. By God’s grace, that will be my 16th full marathon.

Each marathon is special. I never take one step or one breath for granted. Each finish line is full of emotion. While I often say to people, “Enjoy the journey”, I also believe it’s critical to visualize the finish line. Try it. Picture yourself finishing your race (or whatever goal / task / responsibility lies before you) with strength and grace. See yourself increasing in confidence as the long journey comes to an end.

Our mind is a powerful tool that God made. Let’s use it for great things and focus on what is true and of a good report (See Philippians 4:6-8).

Guess what? When I picture myself finishing strong (both during the race and even days before it starts) … I usually DO!!!! Try it. You’ll be glad you did.

Of course we all need to adequately PREPARE for the marathon of life, but that’s for a different blog!

I’ll see you at the finish line!
